The CBDC Technology Forum looks at the technology a central bank digital currency might use. The forum enables us to involve people with a wide range of expertise and perspectives. This helps us to understand the technological challenges of a designing, implementing and operating a CBDC.
Additionally, forum members volunteer to participate in subgroups to explore set topics. These topics include the specific architecture and components of a CBDC system. Subgroup participants present their work at the forum’s plenary meetings for wider discussion.
The forum’s members come from a range of financial institutions, universities, fintechs, infrastructure providers and technology firms. We chose them by an open application process (the window for that has now closed).
