Overview of reported data
This return captures UK-owned banking groups’ consolidated worldwide exposures.
The consolidation perimeter covers all UK and foreign related group entities whose business is financial and whose prime function is to grant credit or whose assets are largely of types that fall under the definition of claims for form CE reporting purposes (see further below). Note that intra-group claims and liabilities arising between related group entities covered by the report should be excluded.
The form collects a breakdown of exposures by counterpart country, counterpart sector, origin of claim, maturity, risk transfers, and currency. The types of claims covered are:
- loans and advances to, and balances
- amounts receivable under finance leases
- claims under sale and repurchase agreements
- commercial bills drawn
- certificates of deposit, promissory notes and other negotiable paper
- lending under ECGD guarantee
- portfolio investments (including dealing portfolios) in securities
- sterling and other currency acceptances given under facilities
In addition, data on risk transfers relating to these claims are also captured, as well as information on local currency local liabilities, derivative claims, and unused external commitments.
In every return firms also need to include:
- their company name
- their legal entity identifier (LEI) or firm reference number (FRN)
- the first day of the reporting period
- the last day of the reporting period
