The Bank of England and Warwick Business School are co-hosting a conference for academics, central banks, international institutions and the payments industry to share ideas on how innovative solutions are changing money and payments.
The payments landscape has radically evolved over the last decade, with consumer preferences and technological developments changing the way households and businesses pay for goods and services. The Bank wants to continue to support innovation in money and payments while maintaining monetary and financial stability. It is vital that households, businesses and financial market participants in the UK can trust the money they hold and make payments with confidence.
Programme
The conference will bring together academics, central banks, international institutions and the payments industry to drive policy relevant discussions on the future of money and payments. We will facilitate the exchange of research and findings with practical insights. This will help promote academic research into real world applications and showcase innovative solutions for the future of money and payments.
The conference will consist of short academic presentations and collaborative discussion panels and presentations, with a keynote address from Sarah Breeden (Deputy Governor for Financial Stability).
The conference will cover themes such as:

- payment innovation as a catalyst for growth
- global trends in retail payments
- the role of interoperability in retail payments
- users' interactions with payments and new forms of money
