James Bell

James Bell is our Executive Director for Communications. He is responsible for all of our internal and external communications. 

Previously, James was our Director for Monetary Analysis (2017-2021). In this role he managed a team that produces briefings, analysis and forecasts for the Monetary Policy Committee.

Before that he was head of our Structural Economic Analysis Division (2012-2017) and secretary to the Monetary Policy Committee (2010-2017).

James started working at the Bank of England in 1997 as an economist. He has worked in our Press Office as a Spokesperson on monetary policy (2010- 2012) and he led our International Conjunctural Team (2006-2010).
