About the event
When: Thursday 10 October 2024, 6pm to 8pm
Join us for an ‘after hours’ audio-described tour of key exhibits in the museum led by a guide. Blind and visually impaired visitors will learn about the Bank’s history and architecture and find out fascinating facts about banknotes. They can also try and lift a 12.5 kg gold bar. It is safely secured in a showcase, but you can still feel its size and weight.
The tour begins at 6pm and will last approximately an hour. It will include object handling. There will be time after the tour to explore the galleries at your own leisure before we close at 8pm.
Places are free but limited and advance booking is essential. To book, email education@bankofengland.co.uk or call 020 3461 5545.
Sighted companions and guide-dogs are welcome.
