[a] From December 1995 to August 1997, subsidiaries set up to take deposits in the Channel Islands & Isle of Man were classified as "building societies"; their balance sheets were consolidated with those of their parents and included in these data. From Sept 1997 the Channel Islands & Isle of Man were reclassified as non-residents, the balance sheets of these subsidiaries have been deconsolidated from those of their parents and are excluded from these data. [i] Due to a restructuring of a reporting institution, amounts outstanding of lending by MFIs have fallen by £4bn, and amounts outstanding of lending by OSLs have increased by £4bn. This movement has been adjusted out of the flows for Q1 2010. (31 Mar 2010)
[j] Due to a population change during December 2010 there was a switch of credit card lending from the MFI sector to the other specialist lenders' sector. This movement has been adjusted out of the credit card lending flows data. Amounts outstanding and flows for total unsecured lending were not affected. (31 Dec 2010)
